Temporary Graduate Visa (485)

The visa is a temporary graduate work visa and it will give you working rights to gain onshore work experience. The Graduate Visa IS NOT points tested and you DO NOT need an employer to sponsor your visa. Many temporary graduate visa holders use the time on this visa to build up the skills and requirements necessary to meet the criteria to apply for a permanent general skilled visa in Australia. Anytime throughout the duration of the temporary graduate visa, visa holders can lodge an application for another permanent visa. There are two streams to this Visa:


You might also be granted different entry rights with your Bridging Visa B. Some BVBs will allow multiple entries within the specified travel period, meaning you can travel in and out of Australia as much as you want, while others will only permit a single entry, meaning you’ll need to apply for a new Bridging Visa B if you want to leave Australia for a second time, even if it’s within the travel period. If you really need a long travel period or multiple entries on your BVB, you should specify this in your application and provide appropriate evidence to support your request.

First stream - Graduate Work Stream

If you have recently graduated from a course relating to an occupation where there is a skill shortage in Australia. This visa allows international students to live, work and study in Australia.
– You can work and stay in Australia up to 18 months
– Hold a qualification relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list
– Processing time is approximately 4 months
How can I check my occupation is on the list? You will need to check the occupations on the Australian Government’s Immigration skilled list (see our link here with the current occupation list).

 

Second stream - Post-Study Work Stream

If you have recently graduated with a degree from an Australian institution. You can work and live Visa in Australia with this visa.
– Work and Stay between 2 and 4 years in Australia, based on your qualification
– Hold a recent degree from a CRICOS-registered course
– Processing time is approximately 4 months
Requirements: Must have completed a course with an Australian institution Must satisfy the English language requirements in the form of IELTS, Pearson Tests, or Occupational English Test Meet Australian Health conditions Skills assessment would also be required for the applicant on the graduate work stream, but not the post study work stream. Submit a police check Pathway to permanent residence As a skilled graduate visa holder you can lodge an application for a Permanent skilled visa at any time during the 18 months of your visa. You will need to meet the requirements of the selected visa to lodge a valid application. Skilled migration visa have their own set of requirements.
